Electrical-panelWhen your circuit breaker trips, are you resetting it correctly? Normally, it will be in the middle “reset” position. Reposition the breaker to the off position. It may take some strength to get it there, but you will hear a click when it is in the off position. Then reposition the breaker back to the on position. If it does not stay in the on position, then the circuit may be overloaded, a short circuit condition may exist or the breaker may need to be replaced.

Also, did you know your circuit breakers need to be exercised at least once a year. Turn each breaker to the off position and then back on, 3 or 4 times. This helps to keep the contacts free and clean and helps ensure the internal mechanisms of the breaker are operating freely.
